The following are minimum guidelines if you want your event ASIL-sanctioned.

First, what does ASIL sanctioned mean?
Being ASIL-sanctioned means your event is listed as an ASIL event. You will have the ability to modify your event details, etc. You also have the peace of mind of knowing that ASIL supports your event and feels that your event meets required safety guidelines. Things that are posted as "Other Area Events" are under the assumption that we do not condone the event nor are we pushing players away. We want everyone to understand that there is NO legal liability applied to ASIL-sanctioned versus non-ASIL-sanctioned. ASIL will host events from time to time, but those are a whole different class of event. ASIL-sanctioned events are hosted by any individual who has been approved by the ASIL Board and run at the observation of an ASIL Board member and by ASIL's good graces

I want to add that we at ASIL do not view ourselves as "elite" or anything like that. Sanctioning does not make your event awesome, or anything like that. I encourage everyone to strive to get your event sanctioned because it means you have met safety standards that the Airsoft community as a whole deems necessary.

Administrative Requirements:
1.) Events that are considered ASIL-sanctioned must either a.) be approved by the ASIL board through a consensus opinion, or b.) be organized by a pre-approved organizer with clearance for future events.
2.) Events must have an ASIL Board member present at the event, although this individual is not required to help in administration. If no member can make it, sanctioning can still be granted through a Board decision to make sanctioning in-lieu-of Board presence.
3.) Events must have a First Aid Kit on site that is accessible by all participants and must contain, at a minimum, the following:
-First aid manual
-Latex gloves (at least 2 pairs)
-Various bandages for cuts and scrapes
-Neosporin or similar infection-preventant
-Elastic bandages for compression
-Rubbing Alcohol and/or Hydrogen peroxide
-Medical Tape
-Medical scissors
-Gauze bandages for large wounds
-CPR Mouthpiece
Recommended items:
-Tourniquet kit
-Epinephrine syringes (for severe allergies)
-Pain relievers
-Space blanket
4.) Organizers must have their waiver approved by ASIL. ASIL takes no legal responsibility for the safety of participants, as we are just a repository of information and a group that makes sure minimum rules are being enforced. That being said, waivers are required and must address legal liabilities in the account of injury, dismemberment, and death of participants.
5.) Events are REQUIRED to have a safety briefing prior to any weapons use. The following must be present at the safety briefing:
-a.) Discussion of goggles-on policy (never removed in the field, only in staging areas)
-b.) Discussion of FPS policy and engagement distances
-c.) Discussion of safety protocols, including any "code words" that signify GAME OFF and information on location of First Aid Kits.
-d.) Request for anyone with CPR training, EMT certification, or Medical training to make themselves known (for emergencies).
-e.) Discussion of administrative policies, including who handles arguments, who calls off games, protocol for addressing concerns.
-f.) Outline of the entire day's organization, indicating when breaks will be taken and when to report where. For tactical purposes, the type of game and specifics need NOT be discussed.
-g.) Explanation of the skirmish area, including how borders are signified, how large the area is, important landmarks, and an initial North bearing.
-h.) Discussion of public view and what to do if authorities arrive on the scene. Directions includes to drop all weapons, remove all gear, and comply with the directions of the authorities. Administrators must be contacted in the event of emergency personnel on site and should be the only individuals who interact with the authorities.
5.) Land must be pre-approved by the ASIL Board before play can commence. Outdoor land must be larger than 20 acres and must not be visible to heavy traffic areas (highways, neighborhoods). Effort must go into preventing any view from the public. Police must be notified prior to events of the area of play, the type of event being held, and duration of the event.

Safety Requirements:

1.) Full seal, ANSI Z87.1 goggles are REQUIRED. If organizers do not enforce this requirement, future sanctioning will be revoked until proper steps are taken to enforce this policy. Those who do not have ANSI rated full-seal goggles must not leave the staging area or must be dismissed from the property.
2.) All participants are required to have a means to carry at least 2 Liters of water with them at all times for all-day events, and 1 liter for smaller events. If skirmishes will not go longer for one hour, than players must be required to rehydrate after every skirmish. Organizers are strongly recommended to bring a means to fill water containers (cooler, water hose, cheap water bottles) to provide to participants, but are not required, provided the organizers require participants to bring enough water for the day (typically 1 Liter for every 2-3 hours of combat).
3.) Organizers should have a means with which to contact emergency personnel in the case of a medical emergency. This can be a cell phone, landline at most 1 mile from the site, or other readily-available means.
4.) All participants are either required to bring radios or to travel at all times with someone who has radios. Radio guidelines should be established prior to the event to specify what must happen in an emergency, what channels to use, and what should be said over the radio.
5.) Organizers must have a means to check all weapons to make sure they fit FPS requirements.

FPS requirements (as a maximum, can be lowered as seen fit):
All FPS requirements are for .20g BBs
-Gas/electric guns (including GBBs, NBBs, AEPs, AEGs): 400fps
-Support weapons (must have real steel military equivalents): 450fps
-AEG Semi-only without permanent modification: 450fps*
-AEG DMRs (must be permanently modified to fire semi-only): 500fps
-Bolt action "sniper" rifles (gas or spring): 550fps

*-Please note that this fps policy represents a recent change to our admission of FPS policy. Because some Chinese-manufactured guns have broken the 400fps limit out of the box, the ASIL Board saw fit that we address this by having some way these players can still play. Our resolution was to require weapons firing between 400-450fps to still operate on semi-only, but not to require permanent modifications. This implies that players with weapons between 400-450fps, if not honest or honorable, CAN put the weapon on full-auto, so we strongly suggest that sanctioned event hosts find a way to designate the semi-only weapons, using a ribbon, or yarn, or some other method, so that those on the field can EXPECT the weapon fires on semi-only, and if it is fired on full auto, we require that the weapon in question be removed from play permanently, or until modified to fit FPS requirements (as in below 400fps).

Engagement Distances:
-0-400fps: 30ft.
-400-450fps: 40ft.
-450-500fps: 60ft.
-500-550fps: 80ft.

6.) Pyrotechnics are prohibited. This includes flashbangs, firecrackers, smoke bombs, even cold smoke devices. The only way to approve these is through the ASIL Board, when used in a predetermined area by an administrator only.

If you have any questions, PM me. If you're interested in becoming a "permanent" ASIL-Sanctioned organizer, please PM me for Board approval. This includes Board members.
